How does someone say goodbye to a dear friend of more than 50 years? Millie and I worked together in our first medical library jobs in the serials department at Tulane’s Rudolph Matas Medical Library in the 1970s, and we have been dear friends ever since.
I can’t take credit for having hired Millie at Tulane in 1973 (my boss did that while I was out of town), and I missed her first day of work because I was stranded in Seattle, but she turned out to be the best coworker a person could ever have. I think often of

Millie was such a great person . She was the Distinguished Service Award winner in 2005 and a past president of SCC.

At the 2009 meeting in Tulsa, which was during the Saints run up to the Superbowl, the New Orleans people convinced the hotel to turn on the TV in the closed bar. Mille was in the executive board meeting nearby. Everytime we cheered, she ran out asking what had happened.

Libraries are rapidly emerging as vital hubs for participatory scientific research. Nationwide, they are lending low-cost scientific tools, distributing citizen science kits, hosting public research programs, and equipping staff and volunteers with foundational training in citizen science. By mobilizing community participation, libraries have the potential to advance biomedical and health research through crowdsourcing while addressing critical challenges in data storage, sharing, and archiving. This presentation will define citizen science, showcase the involvement of over 1,000 libraries as research facilitators, present a case study on a biomedical project utilizing library infrastructure, and explore how libraries are uniquely positioned to overcome key

Good afternoon everyone,

I am very saddened to let you all know that Millie Moore, longtime Serials Librarian at the Matas Library of the Health Sciences at Tulane University, passed away this morning after battling pancreatic cancer. Millie was a great mentor and a very dear friend. We will always remember her smile and her warmth, not to mention her mastery of hilarious sarcasm. Millie retired from Tulane in 2016, but that didn't stop her from volunteering at the Local Hospitality Booth at the 2022 MLA Conference in New Orleans. Her face lit up when she spoke about spending her
