While we are unable to share additional details regarding the cause of the outage at this time, our teams remain focused on restoring services while ensuring the stability and integrity of the environment. We will provide additional information when available and as appropriate.
Restoration is progressing in phases. As compute resources are upgraded, validated, and returned to service, additional processing capacity will become available and jobs in the queue will resume execution.
The OSCER team is pleased to report that restoration of services is progressing well. We currently are running at more than 80% of the compute capacity that we had before this outage, and we are focused on restoring the remainder in a timely fashion. Full compute capacity is expected by the end of next week, assuming restoration continues as planned.
OSCER Users Sooner has a small number of compute nodes available for jobs. During the coming week, more compute nodes will be transitioning to Sooner’s pool of available nodes. We have some steps below on how to login to Sooner and what changes you’ll see. We have been impacted by the severe storm that went through Norman and we need to balance this work with our personal lives.
Scheduled Security Maintenance: Schooner Research Computing Environment
As part of the University of Oklahoma’s ongoing commitment to strengthening our cybersecurity posture, OU Information Technology continuously evaluates and implements security enhancements designed to better protect university systems, data, research, and services. The Schooner research computing environment is currently undergoing maintenance to upgrade the operating system and deploy additional security tools that will enhance the security, resilience, and reliability of the platform. Impact to Users
OSCER Users, We are still in maintenance for all supercomputers and for which work will continue through today. We’ll have a better sense of the timeline and will provide an update this afternoon. If you would like early access to your files, please let us know and we’ll add the name to our early access list.
